Raw Materials for NPK Fertilizer Production
1. Nitrogen Sources (N)
Granular Urea (46% N): Primary raw material for BB fertilizer & compound fertilizer.
Ammonium Chloride (25% N): Low-cost chlorine-based nitrogen for grain crops.
Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (15.5% N): Quick-acting nitrogen for cash crops.
Note: Ammonium chloride is forbidden in sulphur-based formulas and chlorine-sensitive fruits & vegetables.
2. Phosphorus Sources (P₂O₅)
Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP, 11-52-0): Globally dominant phosphorus feedstock with high water solubility.
Diammonium Phosphate (DAP, 18-46-0): High demand in Africa & South America.
Single Superphosphate (SSP): Low-concentration material blended with organic fertilizer in small plants.
3. Potassium Sources (K₂O)
Chlorine-based (low cost, for corn, rice and field crops)
Potassium Chloride (KCl, 60% K₂O): Main imports from Russia, Belarus, Canada.
Sulphur-based (for fruits, vegetables & chlorine-intolerant cash crops)
Potassium Sulphate (K₂SO₄, 52% K₂O)
4. Additives & Fillers (Granulation/Anti-caking)
Bentonite, Kaolin Clay: Binder for disc/drum granulation of compound fertilizer.
Talc Powder, Anti-caking Oil: For coating & anti-caking of blended BB fertilizer (matching coating machine).
Dolomite Powder, Light Calcium Carbonate: Nutrient adjustment & weight filling.
5. Raw Material Difference: BB Blended vs Granulated Compound NPK
BB Blended Fertilizer (Physical blending only): Direct mixing of finished granular urea + MAP/DAP + KCl/K₂SO₄, no clay added.
Granulated Compound NPK (Disc/drum granulation): Raw materials crushed + clay binder + water → granulation & drying.
6. Classic Formula Example (15-15-15)
Sulphur-based 15-15-15: Urea + MAP + Potassium Sulphate + minor filler
Chlorine-based 15-15-15: Urea + MAP + Potassium Chloride
