🔥 Overload and short circuit protection are not the whole picture.

Electrical arcing can result from loose terminals, damaged cables, repeated cable flexing, deteriorated insulation, or poor contact.

Different protective devices address different conditions:

• MCB — overload and short-circuit protection
• RCCB — residual-current detection
• SPD — transient overvoltage protection
• AFDD — detection of characteristic arc-fault signatures

Some hazardous arc faults may not reach the operating conditions of conventional protective devices. An AFDD is designed to detect these characteristic patterns and disconnect the circuit when hazardous arcing is identified.

That “T” button on an RCBO is there for a reason.

The test button is used to check the RCBO’s earth-leakage protection function. When the circuit is energized, pressing “T” should cause the device to trip.

After testing, reset it correctly:
1️⃣ Move it fully to OFF to reset the latch.
2️⃣ Then switch it back to ON.

A successful test shows that the RCBO’s protection mechanism responds to the test condition. It does not verify the safety of the building’s grounding system.

Regular testing, following the product instructions and local electrical requirements, is an important part of electrical maintenance.

Do You Really Understand How Electric Shock Happens?

Electric shock occurs when there is a voltage difference across the body and a complete path for current to flow.

Touching a live wire while connected to ground, equipment, or another conductor can create that path. Touching live and neutral at the same time can also be dangerous, especially if current passes through the chest and heart.

💧 Moisture, bare feet, and damaged insulation can increase the risk. Even standing on a wooden chair is not guaranteed to be safe.

Never use your body to test electricity. Switch off the power, verify that it is de-energized, and use proper protection.
