Automation equipment parts — where repeatability matters more than speed.

A recent run for an automation integrator: 6061-T6 fixture plates with ±0.01 mm hole position, 240 pieces, anodized black, delivered in 18 days including first article approval.

Three things this type of order lives or dies on:
· Hole position consistency across the batch — measured on CMM every 20 pieces
· Flatness after machining — stress-relieved before finishing, not after
· Thread and dowel-pin fit — go/no-go checked, not spot-checked

"±0.005 mm" — what that actually requires.

Buyers often ask whether we can hold ±0.01 mm. We can hold ±0.005 mm on most turned and milled features, but it is a four-part discipline, not a machine spec:

1. Temperature. Aluminum moves about 23 µm per metre per °C. A shop that swings 8 °C between morning and afternoon cannot hold 5 µm on a 300 mm part. Our inspection room is held at 20 ± 2 °C.
2. Fixturing. Thin-wall parts flex during clamping. We design soft jaws and supports per part, sometimes machining a dedicated fixture for a 20-piece order.
3. In-process checks. First article on CMM, then checks at defined intervals — not only at the end.
4. Drawing review. If a tolerance is tighter than the function needs, we say so before quoting. Paying for ±0.005 mm on a non-critical surface is money wasted.
