A part can be machined within tolerance, but dimensional accuracy is only one aspect of quality. The surface appearance is another detail we pay close attention to.

For finished parts, especially black anodized components, a clean and consistent surface can make a big difference in the overall look and feel of the part.

Type III anodization, also known as hard coat anodization, makes parts more durable and gives them a sturdy, premium appearance.
Another advantage is that we can control the coating thickness according to the application.
However, thicker is not always better — especially when the parts need to be engraved. The anodizing thickness needs to be carefully considered to achieve the right balance between durability, appearance, and engraving quality. So the similar issue as below can be avoided.

Knurling is more than just adding texture to a metal surface.
In precision machining, knurling serves two main purposes:

When the surface doesn't comes out smooth, there was sufficient machining allowance and dimensional tolerance available, we were able to perform a secondary machining operation to further improve the surface finish.
This video shows how we turn the surface from rough into shiny surface. For the bottom area,the thickness is too thin, redo the machining is risky.
With the remachine work, we are able to use 180 grit sand to do the blasting instead of using 100 grit, which will have a much smoother and satisfying surface.
