Gearbox replacement for a paper mill feeder.

This M4RSF90-100-04 was supplied as a Santasalo replacement, complete with a mounting base.

Drive configuration:
90 kW | Ratio 100:1 | 1,450 rpm → 14.5 rpm

The gearbox also includes an extended oil level indicator and oil drain valve to make routine maintenance more practical.

For replacement projects, the gearbox itself is only part of the solution. Mounting arrangement, shaft configuration, speed, torque and maintenance requirements all need to match the existing equipment.

When an OSB production line relies on a large drying drum for continuous operation, the drive system needs to handle high torque, stable speed and demanding working conditions.

For this application, we supplied a gearbox drive solution, replacing the original Finnish Moventas gearbox.

The drive system includes:

• Main gearbox: M3PSF80-56-124
• Auxiliary drive: KF88-Y22kW / i=12.56
• Input power: 22 kW
• Gear ratio: 56.686
• Input speed: 1397 rpm
• Output speed: 24.6 rpm
• Application: OSB production line – drying drum drive
• Industry: Wood processing
• Replacement: Finnish Moventas

For a drying drum of this type, gearbox selection is not simply about matching power and speed. Torque, continuous operation and the actual working conditions of the production line all have to be considered.
