ASTM A193 B7 and B16 are both widely used alloy steel grades for high-temperature and high-pressure bolting applications—but they are not interchangeable in every application.

✅ Grade B7: Composed of standard chromium-molybdenum (Cr-Mo) steel.
✅ Grade B16: Contains added vanadium (Cr-Mo-V), which forms stable carbides and nitrides to resist high-temperature deformation.
✅ Identification: B16 studs often feature painted fluorescent green tips for easy visual differentiation on job sites.

✅ Maximum Service Temp (B7): Rated safely up to approximately 750°F–800°F (400°C–426°C) before strength drops off significantly.
