🥳Myth-Busting Class is now in session!
To help you better identify the misleading claims behind food labels and the exaggerated promotions in pharmaceutical advertising, we're launching a new series — Myth-Busting Class — guided by science to protect your health.🎉
Episode 1️⃣: Is it true that eating oatmeal helps you lose weight❓
🥣Oatmeal is rich in dietary fiber. When prepared, it expands in volume and has a low calorie density.
Compared to other staples (like bread🍞 or rice🍚), it’s less likely to cause overeating — making it suitable for calorie control during weight loss.
📣But watch out for these two traps:
1)Not all oatmeal helps with weight loss.
Some commercial oatmeals contain added sugar, oils, and artificial flavors — these hidden calories can actually lead to weight gain.
2)Oatmeal is just a staple food — it cannot replace balanced meals
During weight loss, don’t rely solely on oatmeal. Be sure to include other nutrients:
High-quality protein (e.g., lean meat, fish, legumes, eggs🥚, milk🥛)
Plenty of vegetables🥦
Fresh fruits🍎🍐
Healthy fat sources🍗
Tips to avoid pitfalls when buying oatmeal:
📌Check the ingredient list — Choose products with only “oatmeal” listed.
📌Read the nutrition label — If fat content >10g per 100g, put it back.
📌Consider how it’s prepared — Pure oats that require cooking are healthier than instant processed versions.
