1. Steel support is adjustable and can adjust the support force in time according to the deformation of the foundation pit to adapt to different geological conditions and construction requirements. Moreover, it is relatively easy to install and disassemble, can be reused, and reduce the cost of the project.
2. For old buildings, the structural bearing capacity decreases due to long service life, structural aging or natural disasters. Steel support can be used to reinforce the columns, beams and other structural components of the building. For example, in the restoration of some ancient buildings, steel support is used to improve the stability and safety of the structure without destroying the original architectural style.
In modern buildings, if a building is found to have structural defects or needs functional transformation, steel support is also a common reinforcement method. It can be used in conjunction with other reinforcement materials (such as carbon fiber cloth, etc.) to enhance the reinforcement effect.
3. When the new Austrian method is used in mountain tunnel construction, steel support is a key component of initial support. After the tunnel is excavated, the surrounding rock stress is redistributed, and the steel support, anchor rods and shotcrete are used to support the surrounding rock in time to prevent excessive deformation and collapse of the surrounding rock.
Steel supports can adapt to different tunnel cross-sectional shapes, such as round, horseshoe, etc. In mountainous areas with complex geological conditions, such as weak surrounding rock, broken belts and other unfavorable geological conditions, steel supports can provide strong support to ensure the safe and smooth construction of tunnels.
4. In the construction of urban subway tunnels, steel supports also play an important role. Since most subway tunnels are located in busy areas of cities and the surrounding environment is complex, the requirements for construction safety and surface settlement control are extremely high. Steel supports, in conjunction with other support measures, can effectively control the surface settlement caused by tunnel excavation and protect the safety of surrounding buildings, underground pipelines and other facilities.
