Case Study | Sealed Fl**ge Leak Detection

Compressed air leaks around fl**ge connections can be difficult to identify during routine inspections, especially when the leakage point is small or hidden in complex equipment structures.

In this case, the CRY8124 Advanced Acoustic Imaging Camera was used to visually locate a compressed air leak around a sealed fl**ge. By combining acoustic imaging with an integrated infrared module, CRY8124 helps technicians pinpoint the leak source in real time, while the infrared split-screen view provides additional visual reference for on-site inspection and documentation.

A practical example of how acoustic + infrared inspection supports faster troubleshooting, energy-loss reduction, and preventive maintenance.

Frequency response is only the starting point for wearable audio production testing.

For modern wearable devices β€” from TWS/OWS earbuds and smart glasses to AR/VR headsets, hearing-related devices, and smart watches β€” production quality depends on much more than a clean frequency response curve.

A complete end-of-line audio test process should also verify SPL, THD, Rub & Buzz, microphone performance, ANC/ENC functions, acoustic leakage, polarity, Bluetooth audio paths, and traceable pass/fail data.

In our latest article, we explain why wearable audio testing needs to go beyond traditional frequency response testing, and how manufacturers can build a more reliable, repeatable, and production-ready audio quality control process.

Wind tunnels are taking on a new role: not only helping engineers study airflow, but also helping them understand where noise comes from.

In our latest article, we explore how large-array acoustic imaging can support aeroacoustic testing in wind tunnels. By combining microphone arrays, SonoDAQ multi-channel synchronized acquisition, and OpenTest acoustic imaging software, engineers can visualize noise sources as acoustic heat maps and compare results across different operating conditions.

This approach is especially valuable for applications such as vehicle wind noise, UAV rotor noise, aircraft components, and wind turbine blade testing.

OpenTest v2.0.0 Beta is now available! πŸŽ‰
The biggest update in this release is the new Sequence Mode, designed to support automated testing and standardized workflow management.
With Sequence Mode, users can configure steps such as acquisition, analysis, storage, and reporting into repeatable test workflows. This helps reduce repetitive manual operations, improve consistency, and make OpenTest more suitable for R&D validation, sample comparison, production sampling, and end-of-line testing.
This version also brings several practical improvements:
βœ… Batch channel parameter setup
βœ… Project import/export with test records
βœ… Custom sound level meter calculation rate, down to 5 ms
βœ… SonoDAQ device name editing for easier device management

What does a repeatable sound power testing workflow look like in a real metrology lab?

In this case study, a metrology institute used SonoDAQ Pro and OpenTest to perform multi-point sound power testing on a server-type device in a semi-anechoic chamber.

From background noise acquisition to operating noise measurement, spectrum analysis, and report generation, the workflow helps keep key data together and makes the final results easier to review, compare, and deliver.
The same method can also support testing for fans, motors, compressors, home appliances, and other noise-emitting products.

After our official launch, we’re happy to share something a little different β€” a real hands-on look at the CRYSOUND Pocket Acoustic Camera from YouTuber BigCliveDotCom. πŸ‘€

No polished lab setup. No scripted demo. Just a creator exploring how acoustic imaging can help visualize sound sources in his own workshop.

Big thanks to BigCliveDotCom for the review!
