Doosan DX300 Slewing Device: Structure & Components

The DX300 slewing mechanism is built with an axial piston motor and a two‑stage planetary reducer.

The motor and reducer are bolted to the main frame. The reducer’s output gear meshes with the slewing bearing on the chassis. This gear‑to‑bearing rotation lets the upper frame turn smoothly relative to the chassis.

The slewing motor assembly includes:
Motor housing, end cover, relief valve, anti‑reverse valve, makeup check valve, valve plate, and brake spring.

Final Drive Travel Motor High‑Low Speed Switching Circuit Explained

Want to know how excavators switch between fast and slow travel? Let’s break down the high‑low speed circuit of the travel motor.

In low‑speed mode, the selector switch sends zero pilot pressure. The two‑speed spool stays still. High‑pressure oil pushes the low‑speed piston, increasing the swash‑plate angle and displacement. The motor runs at low speed with maximum torque.

In high‑speed mode, pilot pressure rises above 28 bar. The two‑speed spool shifts, redirecting oil to the high‑speed piston. This reduces the swash‑plate angle and displacement, making the motor run fast.

The travel motor uses a 3‑stage planetary gear reducer. It turns the motor’s high‑speed, low‑torque rotation into low‑speed, high‑torque power for strong, stable travel.
