A graphite sealing face, held in a metal band — and every ring on this table gets checked before it ships.

These are graphite sealing rings with a machined metal insert — a graphite body held inside a steel band, laid out across the bench for inspection.

The combination is deliberate. Graphite gives you the sealing face: it is self-lubricating, it runs cool against a mating face, and it tolerates the thin-film conditions you get in a pump. But graphite alone is brittle, and a ring that has to hold a press fit or take a mechanical load cannot rely on graphite by itself. The metal band takes the structural duty — the retention, the fit, the mechanical load — while the graphite does the sealing. Two materials, one ring, each doing the job it is good at.

The hard part is not the material, it is the interface. Machining a graphite body to sit inside a metal band with the right interference, keeping the sealing face flat and clean after the insert is in place, and holding that across a production run — that is a precision job, and it is why these rings are laid out and inspected before packing rather than after.

The rings in these photos vary in diameter and cross-section, and they are machined to drawing at Lepu. They go into mechanical seals and rotating equipment as the stationary or rotating face, which is the same face pair we build into a mechanical seal for centrifugal pump and mechanical seal for water pump duty, and the same graphite we cut as mechanical seal replacement parts.

Every finished ring in this post started as a grey block — raw carbon graphite blanks stacked on shelves and in piles, waiting for their turn on the lathe. Machining graphite is its own craft: it cuts differently from metal, it is brittle, and it dusts everything around it. Turning the bore, cutting the grooves, drilling the bolt circles, splitting a solid ring into segments — all of it happens in our own workshop, on our own machines.

The last frames show what comes off the bench: graphite rings and sleeves in a wide range of diameters, some with fine grooves machined into the bore, some split into segments, some machined to a smooth matte finish. Carbon graphite is self-lubricating, which is why it keeps showing up in pumps and rotating equipment wherever the liquid film runs thin — it keeps doing its job when lubrication does not.

Graphite runs through almost everything we build at Lepu — the faces inside a mechanical seal for centrifugal pump and mechanical seal for water pump duty, the bushings in mechanical pump shaft seals, and the graphite rings we cut as mechanical seal replacement parts for equipment already in service. Big parts get the same treatment as small ones — machined to drawing, measured before they ship.

Not everything that leaves Lepu fits on a workbench. These two fl**ge rings are heavy steel discs, black-finished and fully drilled — one with radial slots cut clean through the face, the other with a raised machined hub and two full circles of bolt holes. The caliper resting against the pallet gives you some idea of the scale.

Parts like these come to us as drawings, or as the worn originals pulled off the machine. We machine them to match — bolt circles, slots, hub diameters — then measure the critical dimensions before anything gets packed. One piece or a batch, the process does not change.

Four gear reducers on the pallet, four in the crate — packed with care, shipped worldwide.

People know Lepu for mechanical seals. What fewer people see is what else comes out of the same factory in Guangzhou. Gear reducers are one of them.

These four came through the shop freshly painted — cast iron housings, gearing exposed on top — and went straight into export crating. Every unit sits on foam padding with a foam cap over the fl**ge, then into a plywood crate with foam liners between one unit and the next. Nothing rides metal-on-metal, so it lands the way it left.

Gear shafts and pinion gears, built to your drawing — machined in batch at Lepu.

A gear shaft is not just a piece of round bar with teeth cut into it. Tooth count, module, bore diameter, keyway width, surface treatment — every parameter has to match the gearbox it eventually lives in. So when a customer brings us a drawing for a batch of pinion shafts, we do not just cut the teeth and ship. We machine the full shaft: turning, milling the keyway, hobbing or shaping the teeth, heat-treating if specified, then measuring every critical dimension against the drawing.

The picture you see here is one such batch — over thirty gear shafts in matched sizes, sitting on a wooden pallet ready for shipment. Same batch, same standard, same inspection record.

New packaging for our metal bellows mechanical seals — every unit individually sealed, kept apart from its neighbors.

A metal bellows mechanical seal is a precision part. Stack a dozen of them loose in a wooden crate and even one corner-to-corner impact can scratch a sealing face, distort a bellows, or send a precision seal straight to scrap. So we changed the way these seals leave our bench.

Every Lepu metal bellows seal is now individually sealed — wrapped in a clean protective film, then locked into its own fitted cradle on a fiber-board pad. Each unit sits isolated from its neighbors. Nothing touches a sealing face, nothing rattles against metal, nothing is exposed. The seals arrive at your dock the way they left ours: clean, separated, and ready to install.

Egg Conveyor Components on the Bench – This Is a Customer Sample, and the Kind of Parts We Can Build

This is a customer sample that came through our workshop — a set of non-standard egg conveyor components, sent to us as the reference for what the customer needs. They are not our finished products; they are the things we would build to.

The sample components are for an egg conveyor line, with specific geometry, surface finish, and material combinations — the kind of parts you can't just order off a shelf. When we take on this kind of job, our work is: read the customer's drawing, manufacture the parts in our workshop, and ship them out packaged for the customer's installation team. No off-the-shelf shortcut; no "approximate fit"; the parts go out exactly as the drawing asks.

We take this kind of job regularly — non-standard parts built to a customer's drawing or sample, in small or production batches, with the same QC discipline as our mechanical seal line. Custom doesn't mean "slow and approximate" for us; it means "made to the exact thing you asked for, on a schedule you can plan around."

Large Custom Gear on the Bench – This Is a Customer Sample, and the Kind of Gear We Can Build

This is a customer sample that came through our workshop — a large, non-standard custom gear, sent to us as the reference for what the customer needs. It is not our finished product; it is the thing we would build to.

The sample is a sizeable ring gear — a heavy-section fl**ge with a large center bore, a keyway, multiple bolt holes, and a precision-cut external tooth profile. The diameter, the number of teeth, the module, the bore tolerance, and the bolt-circle pattern are all defined by the customer. When we take on this kind of job, our work is: take the sample and the drawing, source the right blank, machine the gear on our CNC equipment, verify the critical dimensions, and ship it out ready to drop into the customer's assembly.

Gears like this are part of the rotating equipment stack — and as a manufacturer of mechanical seals for rotating equipment, we know that the gear above and the seal below have to line up to make the whole machine run. When we build custom gears in our shop, they go through the same documentation and inspection discipline as our mechanical seal line.

This is the kind of pump we build — a Viking® GG4195 internal gear pump, complete with casing, internal gear set, shaft and bearings. When a customer brings us a reference pump like this, we can manufacture the same type of unit in our workshop.

The GG series is Viking®'s heavy-service internal gear pump line: asphalt, l**e oil, hot oil, bitumen and chemical media — frequently viscous, frequently at elevated temperature. The internal gear design handles high-viscosity flow smoothly with low pulsation, and the cast construction is built for long service life in continuous duty.
