14 common causes of abnormal brake noise, let's see which trick your car got?
1. New car running-in
There will be a running-in period for a new car or newly replaced brake discs. During the running-in period, there will inevitably be some abnormal noises, which will usually disappear after running a few hundred kilometers.
2. Normal startup of the ABS system
When braking suddenly, the brake pedal will make a continuous "thump, thud, thud" sound, and sometimes there will be a phenomenon of bouncing, which means that the ABS system is activated, which is a normal sound. Vehicles equipped with an ABS system.
3.Brake pads have metal hard spots
There will be some fine metal particles inside the brake pads, which will make a sharp and harsh sound when the brakes are lightly stepped on. This kind of problem can be solved by stepping on the brakes a few times or removing the brake pads and regrinding them, or replacing them with better brake pads.
4.The brake pads are severely worn, and the alarm starts
Brake pads generally have alarm pads. When the brake pads are worn to the limit, the alarm pads will rub against the brake disc and produce a sharp metal friction sound. At this time, the brake pads must be replaced in time to avoid scratching the brake disc and braking. invalidated.
5. Severely worn brake discs
The wear of the brake disc will form a relatively deep groove on one circle of the disc, and the friction between the brake pad and the edge of the groove will produce abnormal noise. If the groove is not particularly deep, it can be solved by grinding the edge of the brake pad to avoid the friction between the brake pad and the edge of the groove. If the groove is already deep, it is recommended to replace the brake disc. It is generally recommended to replace the brake disc once after changing the brake pads twice.
6.Brake pad assembly problem
Try to reinstall the brake pads, apply butter or special lubricating oil to the connection between the brake pads and the brake calipers, and the problem can be solved. It is also possible that the brake pads are installed backwards, just reassemble. Especially car owners who have replaced brake pads at roadside stalls should pay more attention to this.
7.Brake cylinder does not return
Mostly it is the problem of the brake conduit. Rust in the brake conduit or dirty lubricating oil will lead to poor return. Clean the brake conduit, sand it with fine sandpaper and apply new lubricating oil. It may also be a problem with the brake cylinder, which needs to be replaced, but this kind of failure is relatively rare.
