Geometry Is Not Made by Shape. It's Made by System.
At first glance, The Twist appears to be a highly complex double-curved building suspended across Norway's Randselva River.
But the most fascinating detail is almost invisible:
Every aluminum panel is straight.
Designed by BIG, the project uses a strategy known as Curvature by Pixelation. Standard aluminum panels are arranged with subtle incremental shifts, creating the illusion of a continuously curved surface.
The geometry does not come from bending the material.
It comes from how the material is organized.
For us, this is what makes The Twist such an important project for the architectural metal industry.
It demonstrates that innovation is not always about creating new materials or increasingly complex components. Sometimes the breakthrough lies in fabrication logic, panelization strategy, and intelligent assembly.
Complex geometry does not always require complex components.
Sometimes it simply requires a smarter system.
