A slot die head does not paint the electrode. It meters it.
In extrusion coating, the slurry never meets air until it leaves the die lip. Everything that decides cell-to-cell consistency — gap tolerance, lip geometry, pump pulsation, web tension — happens inside a few millimetres of flow channel.
In this clip from our workshop you can see the coating head running on our pilot line: slurry metered through the die, a continuous wet film laid on the foil, and the edge zones staying clean instead of building up.
Three things we design for when we build a slot die coater:
Stable metering. Closed-loop slurry supply and a die body that holds its gap over a full shift, so thickness drift shows up as data before it becomes scrap.
Uniformity across the full coating width, including the edges, where most pilot lines quietly lose yield.
Fast changeover. One operator should be able to swap the die, reset the gap and run a new formulation the same day — not the same week.
If you are specifying a coating line for a new chemistry, or rebuilding one that never reached its target yield, send a message. We build laboratory and pilot lines for cylindrical, pouch and prismatic cells, from slurry mixing to formation.

Sealing a pouch cell looks simple until the seal has to cross a tab.
The metal tab is a heat sink. It pulls heat out of the seal line, so the tab zone and the bare film zone never reach the same temperature under the same jaw setting. Set the jaws for the film, and the tab corners come out undercooked. Set them for the tab, and the film is overcooked, the aluminum layer gets exposed, and you find white residue at the seal edge a week later.
That balance is what a semi-automatic pouch top-side sealer is built around:
manual load and unload for flexible pilot batches, pneumatic jaw closure for repeatable pressure
independent top and bottom jaw temperature setpoints, so the tab side and the film side are balanced instead of compromised
flat, parallel jaws, because parallelism decides the seal more than the absolute temperature does
tab-compatible tooling and fast changeover when the pouch format or film supplier changes
stored recipes per cell format, so re-qualification starts from a known point instead of an operator's memory

Semi-automatic is usually the right call for a pilot or small-volume line. You keep the judgment on loading, alignment and tab placement. The machine takes over what has to be identical every cycle: temperature, pressure and dwell.
One thing we tell every customer before they order: qualify the top seal on dummy cells with your own film and tab thickness, and peel-test the tab corners first. Then commit a batch.
Specifying a pouch line around 606090 or 4462115 formats? Happy to compare notes on the sealing block.
