Have you ever wondered or seen a concrete structure with stones sticking out, cement unevenly distributed, and a weak appearance? This is caused by two culprits: honeycombing and concrete segregation.

Honeycombing is when concrete is not properly compacted, leaving voids and air pockets, while concrete segregation is the separation of the cement paste from the aggregates during casting. Both issues can compromise the integrity of the structure.

But fear not, there are solutions! To fix these issues, loose material is removed, and the surface is cleaned. A cement slurry is then applied to fill voids and cover the stones, and in severe cases, the area may need to be re-cast.

The key to preventing these issues is ensuring your concrete mix is properly designed and vibrated during casting, and your formwork is constructed correctly. Don't let honeycombing and concrete segregation ruin your project's appearance and durability.
