Proud to share our contribution to the paper “Assessment of Groundwater Rise Zones Using Electrical Resistivity for Foundation Stability Analysis”, recently published in Discover Geoscience (Springer Nature, 2025). This study, conducted in Bangui (Central African Republic), utilises Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) to identify rising groundwater zones that affect foundation stability and to guide sustainable drainage design for industrial construction sites.

Geoelectrical Study for Grounding - Contribution of Geoelectrical Studies to the Optimization of Grounding Systems in Humid Tropical Africa: Grounding systems play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of electrical infrastructure, protecting users and equipment from power surges, faults, and lightning strikes. In humid tropical environments, such as Cameroon, these systems encounter unique challenges stemming from highly variable geological properties, copious rainfall, and elevated humidity levels, which impact soil resistivity and accelerate corrosion. This study examines the contribution of geoelectrical studies to the optimization of grounding systems, focusing on the Southern Interconnected Grid, specifically in Douala. The research methodology involves conducting vertical electrical surveys (VES) and analyzing the collected data using computer software to characterize soil stratification and resistivity at varying depths. The findings reveal substantial lateral and vertical heterogeneities, necessitating adaptive and localized design of grounding systems. Recommendations are provided.
