For Judith Beyeler, Head of Sustainability at Walter Matter, EUDR didn’t just raise the bar; it changed what proof looks like down to individual farm plots and verifiable evidence.

For a small team managing a global supplier network, that meant figuring out how to process large volumes of geolocation data, often incomplete or inconsistent, and turn it into something reliable and usable.

With Picterra, Walter Matter SA has operationalized that shift.

In this video, Judith shares how they approached it:

🌎 Working with real-world data at scale
⚙️ Enabling non-experts to assess deforestation risk in minutes
🔍 Generating transparent outputs that they can explain to suppliers and customers

Since starting:
📍 ~500,000 farm plots analyzed
🌐 26 countries covered
📦 1,000+ shipments verified

This is what making EUDR compliance operational looks like in practice.

Earlier this week, we shared our first public insight on Brazil’s 2026 coffee crop.

At first glance, the crop looks strong. But the story is more complex.

After early drought and extreme heat, conditions improved, and the vegetation recovered. Everything looks healthy today.
But crops don’t simply reset after stress.

What happened during those early stages can still affect how the plant develops later, even if the canopy looks green.

In our latest blog, we explain what's really happening this season and why these hidden signals matter.

🫘 Brazil’s 2026 coffee harvest is expected to be a record. But farmers on the ground aren’t so sure. And the data may suggest otherwise. Is the market wrong?

CONAB is projecting 66.2 million bags, and the market is already pricing in abundance. But in parts of São Paulo and southern Minas Gerais, growers describe a very different season. Dry soils during fruit formation, extreme heat in December, and uneven recovery across plots.

As one producer put it:

“This is not a super harvest. The plants suffered.”

So which version is closer to reality?

We’ve just launched our first public GeoAI insight, powered by Picterra Insights Hub, to explore that question. Tracking how the crop responded to drought and heat over time, it reveals differences across regions that traditional indicators don’t capture.

Some areas absorbed the stress. Others didn’t.

And that could shape yield, quality, and availability in the months ahead.

🌿 Governments and companies are investing heavily in preserving biodiversity. But proving conservation impact at scale remains a major challenge.

Field audits and static surveys often leave gaps, making it hard to verify whether incentives or restoration efforts are truly working.

Picterra’s Insights Hub brings visibility down to the land level, tracking hedgerows, riparian buffers, shade trees, and habitat connectivity directly from imagery.

The result is verifiable geospatial evidence that helps regulators, funders, and sustainability teams confirm biodiversity gains with confidence.

🌍 Land-based carbon projects hold enormous promise, but turning that promise into verified CO₂ impact is still difficult.

📉 Field surveys and manual estimates are slow, expensive, and complicated to scale, especially as expectations around carbon credibility continue to rise.

🛰️ Picterra’s Insights Hub helps solve this by continuously monitoring landscape change and identifying measurable CO₂ removals and insetting outcomes at scale. It brings clarity to where restoration is working, where risks remain, and where investment delivers real impact.
