🚙 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 – Rare Part for a Highly Restored Icon

During the restoration of one of our recent projects, we faced what seemed like a small detail — the seat belt buckle cover.

However, as often happens in classic vehicle restorations, small parts become the biggest challenge.

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 is one of the most popular classic Land Cruisers among restorers worldwide. These vehicles are highly valued, frequently restored, and often brought back to true factory-like condition.

Ironically, despite the model’s popularity, the specific seat belt construction in this vehicle turned out to be a rare version.
No new parts were available on the market, and no used parts could be found either. Searches through dismantlers and collector networks led nowhere.

The original cover was completely broken and beyond repair.

The only solution was a full engineering approach:
🔹 reverse engineering from the damaged sample
🔹 reconstruction of missing geometry
🔹 complete 3D modeling
🔹 manufacturing of a new replacement part

The geometry had to be rebuilt literally fragment by fragment.

The result: the vehicle made it to the exhibition on time, and after painting, the new part looked almost indistinguishable from the original factory component.

In high-level restorations, it’s often the smallest details that complete the whole picture.

🚙 Finishing another project — Toyota Land Cruiser HJ61 bumper caps.

This time it’s the **center bumper cap**, created using reverse engineering from an original sample.

The work was quite challenging because the original part was heavily deformed, making it almost impossible to take accurate measurements. Even 3D scanning didn’t help much in this case — a lot had to be rebuilt manually and verified step by step.

After many iterations, the result turned out very well, and the new part fits as it should 👍

Working on another small restoration detail for classic Land Cruiser projects.

I prepared a DXF template of the original TOYOTA tailgate lettering — designed to keep factory proportions and make vinyl cutting easy for repainting or restoration work.

Hidden Cause of Front-End Knock – Steering Rack Bushing (Driver Side)
Citroën C4 II / C4 Picasso II / C4 Grand Picasso II / Peugeot 3008 / Peugeot 5008
Many owners of these vehicles experience a knocking noise from the front end when driving over small bumps or rough roads.
In most cases this issue is difficult to diagnose correctly.
Very often it is mistakenly attributed to:
• Inner tie rod wear
• Control arm bushings
• Ball joints
• Or even diagnosed as a “bad steering rack” requiring full replacement
In reality, a very common hidden cause is wear of the eccentric guide bushing inside the steering rack housing on the driver’s side.
The factory bushing has a weak design and limited working surface area. Over time it wears out, loses preload, and allows movement of the rack bar, which results in:
• Knocking noise
• Steering play
• Reduced steering precision
The real solution is replacing this weak factory bushing.
I have developed an improved reinforced replacement bushing, made from high-quality wear-resistant self-lubricating engineering nylon and designed with increased working surface area.
Advantages of the improved bushing:
• Significantly stronger than OEM
• Better load distribution
• Extended service life
• Restores tight and precise steering
• Eliminates knock caused by bushing wear
Replacement does not require complete disassembly of the steering rack and in many cases can be performed without removing the rack from the vehicle.
If you have a front-end knock and the suspension components are in good condition, this bushing is definitely worth checking.

This is a very common problem on LC100 & LX470 — the original latch wears out, the hook deforms, and the mechanism starts to fail.
I’ve reverse-engineered the OEM latch and developed a reinforced, upgraded replacement designed for smooth operation, higher strength, and long service life.
