"Just use a standard laptop charger on the forklift."

We hear this a lot. And it never ends well.

Forklift traction batteries run at 24V, 36V, 48V or 80V. During lifting and braking, the on-board voltage swings wildly – far beyond what any off-the-shelf charger can handle.
