Even as the feed industry continues to expand, feed producers worldwide remain under growing pressure to improve efficiency, make better use of raw materials and energy, maintain consistent quality, and take advantage of digitalization.

Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, Bühler Changzhou brings together animal nutrition expertise, technology, digital solutions, and services under one roof to help producers address these challenges.

More than 650 customers, partners, suppliers, and industry experts from across the globe joined Bühler for the anniversary. At the Value Nutrition Innovation Forum, participants shared experiences and explored developments in livestock and poultry feed, aquafeed, premix production, and pet food.

Visits to customer plants offered a firsthand look at how processing technologies are used in commercial production to improve efficiency, quality, and operational transparency.

Expanding into pasta in just 16 months.

Akhan Un has been in the flour business for decades. Today, the company mills 33 different kinds of flour from the high-protein durum wheat grown in southern Türkiye. In 2024, founder and Chairman Orhan İlhan decided to make a play for the fast-growing global pasta sector, aiming to have a factory with multiple lines producing high-quality pasta in just 16 months.

“We will make Turkish pasta a global brand,” says Orhan İlhan. To fulfill this vision, Akhan Un chose us as its partner.

What does smarter flour milling look like?

Baiyan in Guangdong province in China is a lighthouse example of Bühler’s SmartMill concept. It successfully went into operation in May 2025.

Bühler's SmartMill solutions adds value to both quality and efficiency while reducing manual intervention. The operator simply sets product characteristics, and the mill continually learns from all variables to self-optimize its production parameters.

This autonomy is reached gradually, not overnight. Just as the auto industry progressed from manual steering to full autonomy through clear, incremental steps, the SmartMill journey follows a similar path: connect the plant, learn from the data, assist people with actionable insights, and then close the loop so the system can adjust parameters continuously within safe guardrails.

With continuous AI-driven optimization throughout the whole process, production becomes more intelligent and efficient.
