Press Release: Appointment of Press Secretary

The Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Uko Umoh , has approved the appointment of Mr. Otobong Nsekpong as Press Secretary (CPS).

Mr. Nsekpong holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism. His extensive media background includes serving as a correspondent for the Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation, Weekday Editor of Community Pulse, and Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

He has also worked as Personal Assistant to the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, and Special Assistant to the Commissioner for Information and Communication. In 2017, he became the publisher of National Witness newspaper.

A seasoned journalist, Mr. Nsekpong brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
He is expected to coordinate all media activities of the chairman and other media events within the council.

This appointment reflects the Chairman’s commitment to fostering effective communication and transparency within Etinan Local Government.

Pius Emmanuel John will further PDP Progress in Etinan Chapter - Paul Ekpo ..As PDP Etinan Chapter Elects Pius Emmanuel John, Chairman

The Member Representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency, Obong Paul Ekpo has articulated that Pius Emmanuel John's emergence as Chapter Chairman, will further the progress of the Peoples Democratic Party in Etinan Local Government Area.

Congratulating him at the end of the Congress, the Member of Parliament expressed belief in John's leadership-capacity and his ability to successfully steer the wheels of the Party at the Chapter's level.

Obong Paul Ekpo advised him to entrench unity, harmony, peace and accountability in his tenure to enable him scale the hurdles of his new role.

He also charged him to be magnanimous in his victory by extending the olive branch to other contenders, to further the progress of the Party.

Furthermore, Ekpo admonished all Party faithfuls to support the new Chairman and members of the Executive for the continuous growth of PDP in Etinan Local Government Area.

Pius Emmanuel John had emerged the substantive Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Etinan Chapter at the end of the Chapter Congress held at the Party Office, located along Ekpene Ukpa Road, Etinan Local Government Area on Saturday, 10th August, 2024.

The PDP Congress was held across all the Chapters of the Party in Akwa Ibom State.

Popularly known as Paiko, Pius Emmanuel John was announced the winner by the Returning Officer, Idongesit Ituen having scored 36 valid votes.

Also in the team to conduct the Congress was Dr Emmanuel Mbang.
