Vamsee Pilyanam from ERLPhase Power Technologies attended CIGRE Energy Forum, held in Calgary, Canada from 21-23 September, 2026 connecting with utility professionals, engineering firms, EPCs, panel builders, technology providers, and industry partners from across Canada and beyond.

We were pleased to reconnect with existing customers, meet new industry contacts, and discuss the evolving needs of Canada's power sector - from protection and automation to grid modernization, system monitoring, and asset reliability.

The conversations continue beyond the event, with several technical sessions and collaboration opportunities now being explored.

Bharath Ramaswami attended CIGRE Paris Ampner, Fingrid and ERLPhase presented the paper "Modeling, Simulation, and Validation Tests for Sub-Harmonics Protection Relay" in the poster Session This study compared a sub-synchronous oscillation simulation with modelling of a sub-harmonic protection relay (the S-PRO Sub-Harmonic Protection Relay).

The growing participation of renewable and hybrid power plants and battery energy storage systems present new challenges with power system stability and dynamics such as sub-synchronous oscillations (SSO). To avoid the equipment failure in the occurrence of SSO, sub-harmonics protection relays (SHPR) are widely installed in various power plants in the Finnish Power Grid.

This paper models the various protection functionalities of a specific SHPR (S-PRO Sub-Harmonic Protection Relay) installed in several power plants across Finland to accurately mimic and validate the physical relay's behavior. Results verified that the sub-synchronous oscillation simulation had a good alignment with the sub-harmonic protection relay in different test scenarios.

We’re pleased to share some highlights from IEEE RVP-AI 2026, held July 26–30 in Acapulco, Mexico.

It was a great opportunity for the ERLPhase Power Technologies team to connect with customers, industry professionals, and fellow power system experts, and to showcase some of the latest innovations incorporated into our power system solutions.

We were proud to participate alongside our representative, AISLA TENSION, whose continued support and collaboration were instrumental in making this event a success.

Throughout the event, we discussed how new technologies and enhanced functionality can help utilities and power system operators achieve greater efficiency, reliability, and readiness for the challenges ahead.

Last week, Jorge Figueroa, ERLPhase Sales and Application Engineer for Latin America, attended the CARILEC Engineering & Procurement Conference & Exhibition 2026 in Georgetown, Guyana.

The event brought together utility leaders, engineers, procurement specialists, and technology providers from across the Caribbean to discuss the future of grid modernization, resilient infrastructure, and strategic procurement.

Throughout the conference, Jorge had the opportunity to meet with representatives from many of the region's leading utilities, exchanging ideas, discussing industry challenges, and exploring technologies that support a more reliable and resilient electric grid.
