With the project “Triaging artificial intelligence (AI) Tool For Pulmonary Health Using Spectral X-ray Imaging Technology”, KA Imaging has been selected for INOVAIT Canada’s Pilot Fund.

The project will develop an AI-based triage tool using data from Reveal 35C with SpectralDR technology to rapidly detect cardiothoracic abnormalities relevant to image-guided interventions.

Access to medical imaging remains uneven across the world. In many rural and low-resource settings, healthcare teams do not have reliable access to X-ray imaging. Others rely on outdated equipment that limits image quality and diagnostic confidence. Without reliable imaging, clinicians need to make difficult decisions with incomplete information.

Improving access to X-ray technology is one of the most practical steps toward closing diagnostic gaps. Facilities need imaging systems that deliver meaningful clinical information at the point of care.

Can’t believe it’s been a year already! In April 2025, the SpaceXray research group marked an incredible milestone: the first medical X-ray in space. In a post on X on April 2, 2025, Fram2 Mission Commander Chun Wang shared the first image — a hand with a ring — echoing the very first X-ray captured over a century ago by Wilhelm Röntgen.

The SpaceXray group continues to advance this research — take a peek at these photos from ECR earlier this year, where Sheyna Gifford and David Lerner presented their work.

“The future of DR is not about cheaper detectors but about smarter detectors,” he says. “We see DR evolving into a low-dose, high-value clinical platform that supports early detection and risk assessment for multiple conditions: lung disease, cardiovascular disease, bone health, and more. Not as a replacement for CT or MRI, but as a smarter gatekeeper, with the long-term potential to support population-level risk assessment in ways that aren’t practical with higher-dose modalities.”
