Today we said goodbye to our sweet Copper. 💔🐾
13 years ago, Tyler and I brought Copper into our lives while living in Alberta. Little did we know just how many adventures and memories we would share with him.
Copper was our travel buddy, making his way through BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. He spent countless days with us in the mountains, camping, fishing, going for car rides, and watching trains go by. Wherever we went, Copper was usually along for the ride.
When we moved back to Ontario, Copper took on a new role as the shop dog at Freiburger Welding. He loved barking at customers, soaking up the sun on the warm pavement, and occasionally hitching a ride in the loader when it was time to move snow. He certainly had his own personality, and anyone who knew Copper knew that! ❤️
A few years later, Malone joined our family. We weren't quite sure how Copper would feel about having a little sister, but within a few short days, they became the best of friends. From that day on, they were pretty much inseparable.
Then along came Lynnetta. We were a little hesitant, knowing Copper had never been much of a kid-loving dog. But in his own way, he accepted her. He would watch her from afar, allow the occasional pet and kiss, and eventually discovered that her blankets and cozy little chair were pretty great places to curl up. That little chair became one of his favourite spots during his final days. ❤️
We're so thankful we got to spend one last Thanksgiving together and take him on one final four-wheeler ride, looking for turkeys. Just one more adventure with our boy.
Tonight, the house feels a little too quiet. No little toes tapping across the floor, no one begging for treats, and no Copper curled up beside us on the couch. Malone is without her best buddy, and we're missing a piece of our family. As much as our hearts hurt tonight, we know you're no longer suffering.
Rest easy, our sweet lil sq**rt. 🐾🤍 Thank you for 13 wonderful years.
