Leadership Through Diversity is a student-run group that aims to provide engineering students a chance to get involved in leadership-building opportunities and develop their soft skills without having to commit a large amount of time throughout an entire semester like many of the other groups on campus. It aims to help students to gain leadership skills, promote self development, and increase invo

lvement in faculty-related events and socializers. Events held are also tailored to allow participation from anyone in engineering. The UVic Engineering Faculty does not currently have any student-run programs that cater to diversity, and this group was started when a need for diversity awareness and inclusion was realized. The Engineering Student Society has been trying to branch out to students that do not regularly get involved with the society, or the events it runs. A position that focused on these issues was created in 2010, and it proved effective in fostering communication with diverse students. The success of this position has led to the birth of this group.
