Designing hospitality spaces with a connection to nature 🌿
In hospitality architecture, material choices influence how a space looks, feels and relates to its surroundings. Wood introduces natural texture and warmth, while creating continuity between architecture, interiors and landscape.
Four hospitality projects show different approaches to using Lunawood ThermoWood® — from façades and interiors to sauna and wellness spaces.
📷Glacier Lagoon Hotel | Iceland
Set between glaciers and volcanic landscapes, Hotel Jökulsárlón uses Lunawood on the façade to establish a natural relationship between the building and its surroundings, while responding to Iceland’s demanding climate.

Brushed Lunawood ThermoWood® spruce continues from the exterior façade into guest rooms, the spa and restaurant, creating a consistent material language throughout the hotel.

📷 Umani Hotel | Bulgaria
Located next to Golden Sands Nature Park near Varna, Umani Hotel was designed to sit discreetly among the existing trees and rock formations. Vertical Lunawood ThermoWood® battens wrap the façade, helping integrate the building with its natural setting.

📷 Break Sokos Hotel Tahko | Finland
Lunawood ThermoWood® is used both on the exterior façade and in the hotel’s sauna and wellness areas, creating a consistent material connection between the building’s exterior and interior. In the wellness spaces, the dimensional stability and resin-free properties of Lunawood make it particularly suited to demanding conditions and high temperatures.
