Did you know that LED light bulbs are a great way to save money? You are not only saving on the electrical bill but also spending less on bulbs themselves over time. Even though LED bulbs are more expensive than incandescent ones, their lifespan is significantly longer. For comparison, the average life of an incandescent bulb is 1,200 hours versus 50,000 hours for an LED one. And do not forget that LED bulbs come with a manufacturer's warranty. Most of the manufacturers offer up to 10 years warranty. So, if your LED bulb died before the warranty expires, you will be eligible to get a free replacement!

Did you finally decide to install that security system you’ve been wanting for a while? Check out these often overlooked mistakes a lot of people make during installation!

1) Not waterproofing connections:
If your security camera is located outside, it’s a no brainer that it needs to be waterproof. A lesser known fact is the cable you use to connect your camera to your network has to be waterproof too. Waterproofing your cable is really easy-just get a grommet/cover to protect the exposed Ethernet cable before plugging it into your camera.

2) Poor camera positioning:
Installing your cameras at a incorrect angle can significantly decrease the quality of the picture. Do not point the camera at the ground and avoid too much exposure from bright lights such as the sun.

3) Not investing in good quality cables:
Let’s be real, the price of cables can easily add up if you need to cover a large distance. So, it can be pretty tempting to go for a cheaper cable instead of a more pricey ones. Well, cheaply made cables often have shorter lifespans and can cause issues like loss in video quality.

Today more and more people are in favour of working from home. We want to share a couple simple safety tips for your home office.
1)Plugging too many electronic devices into one power bar can lead to an electrical fire due to power overload. Always check the maximum rating (wattage) your power bar can handle and plug accordingly.
2) In-drawer outlets are not permitted in BC due to BC Electrical Code. Consider installing a USB only charging outlet for your desk.
3) All cover plates should be in a good condition and free of any damage. Otherwise, you are at risk of electrical shock.
