📢 Project Highlight: Cluxewe Resort

This land on northern Vancouver Island has been home to the Kwakiutl people for thousands of years. Today, the Nation owns and operates Cluxewe Resort here.

For years, the resort operated under a Do Not Consume advisory. We worked alongside the Nation and project partners to help secure funding and deliver a new water treatment system, built with:
- A design tailored to a remote site
- Operator training and capacity-building
- Safe, reliable water for guests and staff

The advisory has now been lifted.

Phase 1 of the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Facility is officially open! 🎉

Since 2020, our Landscape Architecture and Civil Engineering teams have worked alongside HCMA Architects and the Strathcona Regional District on the facility's renovation and expansion. Phase 1 brings a brand new aquatic facility, parking areas, and outdoor spaces for the community to enjoy.

Last week, we joined the celebration with lunch, a ceremony, and the official ribbon cutting. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this milestone to life!

📢 Project Highlight: Agnes Greenway 🚲

The Agnes Greenway is a 1.2km multi-modal corridor in downtown New Westminster, linking Victoria Hill and the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project with the SkyTrain station and Fraser River Esplanade.

We led the landscape architecture, urban design, and public realm visioning, starting with an interim installation to test the corridor in the real world before making it permanent.

🌳 Street trees + pollinator plantings + rain gardens
🚲 Bike parking, lighting, and seating
🎨 Public art and pedestrian-focused gathering spaces

A safer, more accessible route for walking, wheeling, and cycling, for people of all ages and abilities.

Urban Systems offices are closed today to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Today we honour residential school Survivors, remember the children who never came home, and recognize the lasting impacts on Indigenous families and communities. It’s a day to listen, learn from the truths of residential schools, and reflect on what reconciliation asks of each of us.

📢 Project Highlight: Discovery Playground 🛝

Since 2012, Lethbridge has worked to build "a park of the people, by the people, for the people." The result? Legacy Park. 30 acres, years of community input, and a whole lot of collaboration.

We supported the design work through every phase, working alongside City staff and a Community Advisory Committee.

Our team helped bring the final phase to life:
🛝 Discovery Playground
🚿 A new plaza beside the spray pad
🌳 Landscape work connecting the park's earlier phases into one

Our Foundation team was proud to support Art City with their annual fundraising gala and community parade this year.

Year over year, our Winnipeg team strongly advocates for and supports the incredible work Art City does to provide free and accessible programming in a community that is deeply rooted in art and creativity.

Skills in design and creativity were also put to the test when our team members assisted in the design of a few floats; a challenge that we had the pleasure of taking on.

Thanks to Art City and our team members for helping make another memorable year!

The Foothills Okotoks Regional Water Project recently hit a major milestone with the completion of a watermain pipeline from the Bow River to the Town of Okotoks, and we couldn't be prouder to have been part of this project, which will help to secure critical long-term water security and growth opportunities for these communities.

We're excited to continue engaging with our project partners and communities as we continue to finish the next phase of this project through Foothills County.
