Welcome to Dark Horse Design Tool Co.; tools to help make work, less work. Founded in 2024 in Vancouver, British Columbia, by Kristoffer Welch, a master finishing carpenter with a passion for excellence in the high-end single-family sector, and Amber Stace, a skilled residential painter with an eye for detail, our mission is to boost productivity and enhance the value of your workflow. Always focused on constant improvement, Kris has been designing simple tools and jigs to increase efficiency on the job for 25 years. In 2023, he set out to tackle a common problem with the repeatable accuracy of track saws and developed the Dark Horse Tape Stop™. Starting from a small 3D print studio with our first tool, we are ambitiously aiming to expand our operations into a comprehensive CNC manufacturing facility. Hey, Kris and I are excited to announce that we are working on our very first product to be released early this spring. The Dark Horse Track Saw Tape Stop™. It allows you to perform accurate repeatable cuts with your Festool, Makita, or Milwaukee track saw using a tape measure. It is our answer to expensive and cumbersome parallel guides designed for the site carpenter, installer or small woodworking/cabinet shop. Set your Dark Horse Tape Stop™ to the desired measurement, accurately position your track and confidently make your cut.

This tool was designed by a finishing carpenter to improve the accuracy and repeatability of your day-to-day track saw cuts. Similar to parallel guides minus the expense, timely set-up and hassle. Whether you are just breaking down some sheets or building custom built-in cabinetry, the Tape Stop™ will improve accuracy and productivity.
