From water and wastewater infrastructure to district energy and entertainment design, RVA was proud to contribute to a wide range of technical discussions at the 2026 Canadian Society Civil Engineering Conference (CSCE) in Quebec City.

Our team shared insights from several projects, including the rehabilitation of critical water infrastructure, the delivery of new reservoir and pumping station facilities, structural innovations for district energy systems, and the design of Canada's newest world-class roller coaster experience.

The team were delighted to share their expertise with industry members and explore beautiful Quebec City. Thank you to the organizers and attendees for a memorable event, and a big shoutout to all RVA presenters: Reanna Lynn, Prakash Nadesparan, Omid Marandi, Buster Biggs, and Emily Soscia.

We are happy to share some exciting leadership updates from our colleagues within Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

Parth Bosmia from our Ottawa office has been elected as Chapter Secretary at the recent PEO Upper Canada Chapter meeting. He will be supporting a geographically diverse region spanning Eastern Ontario to help strengthen the engineering community engagement and regulatory liaison efforts.

We are also delighted to recognize Don Grandy from our Toronto office, who has been re-elected as Treasurer of the Toronto-Humber Chapter for the 2026–2027 term and will continue his valued contributions as Scholarship Sub-committee Co-Chair. This year also marks an incredible milestone for Don as he celebrates 40 years of volunteering on the Toronto-Humber Chapter Executive Committee.

Please join us in congratulating Parth and Don on their achievements and continued dedication to the engineering profession and community!

What is the Niagara Children's Water Festival about?

RVA Project Managers of our Water team, Kaleb Mudrik, P.Eng. and Andrew Flagg, joined the Niagara Children's Water Festival at Brock University to deliver the “Fish of Niagara” activity to Grade 4 students from the Niagara Region.

Across thousands of students rotating through hands-on water education stations, they led an interactive experience where kids learned to identify tolerant vs. sensitive fish species and use them as real indicators of water quality.

During the exercise, students were able to catch, identify, sort, and explain what the fish revealed about the health of the water. The activity quickly became a crowd favourite, drawing in senior leaders, including the Commissioner of Public Works and the Director of Water/Wastewater, who jumped in to test their own skills.

The Niagara Children’s Water Festival is a collaborative event that includes 30 educational activity centres developed around the themes of Water. Every year, approximately 3,200 Grade 4 students from the region show up over a four-day period. Thank you to all involved in such a great event!
