Luckily, we work right next door to the metalworking geniuses at !

Recently, we needed some replace TR-808 battery covers. Turns out, when that cover goes, there truly is no replacement. Thankfully, we can call on our neighbours to give us a hand. They created these elegant, brass replacement covers, so we're never up the 808 creek without a cover.

Lisa and Kelvin have helped us out of countless binds over the years, and we can't thank them enough for their generosity and good humor!
Check out their page for some of their amazing pieces.

Keeping things original matters where it counts, but not where it doesn't.

If your vintage Sequential Circuits Pro One is clacking like crazy, let us know!

This replacement keybed kit from utilizes a modern Fatar TP/95 semi-weighted keybed that is buttery smooth, and super quick to install.

Even when original keybeds are fully re-bushed and contacts are cleaned, they are less reliable in the long run and aren't quite as silent!

As it can go with some repairs, progress is not always linear, even on problems that seem simple on the surface.

In addition to a full electronic restoration, this Minimoog came in with decades-old masking tape along the front, denoting note names. (photos 1 - 2)

The tape was as hard as a rock and as stubborn as a mule, but with enough elbow grease and isopropyl alcohol it finally came loose! (photo 3)

However, to our dismay, the alcohol eventually caused white stains in an area of the finish. Two steps forward, one step back. (photos 4 - 5)

After some testing, we managed to lessen this aesthetic defect with a technique involving a damp tea towel and a clothing iron, followed by some wood polish. (photos 6 - 8)

If this line of work is anything, it's a constant series of multidisciplinary learning opportunities!

Last month we attended our first ever NAMM! Lori & Jay took a few days away from snowy Toronto to meet friends and partners down in sunny LA.

There's not usually a ton of vintage love at the "look at my new synth" show of the year, but we did manage to sneak in some fun vintage moments among new friends and faces:

✅ Checked out the Keith Emerson Moog Modular reissue
✅ Met the legend, Dave Rossum
✅ Caught a cameo from DJ Jazzy Jeff
✅ Geeked out over the 808 that we spiffed up for
✅ Said hello to our friends at
✅ Met up with the good folks at
✅ Admired a modular video installation at
✅ Made new friends at
✅ Got deeply philosophical with

Can't wait to add more to this list - next year.
