The RAIC - IRAC and the Canada Council for the Arts | Conseil des arts du Canada recently announced the recipients of the 2026 Governor General’s Medals in Architecture.

Winners include Calgary’s Parkade of the Future designed by 5468796 Architecture and Kasian Architecture Interior Design & Planning Ltd, and Edmonton’s Windermere Fire Station #31 by GH3 and S2 Architecture.

Earlier this month, the Government of Canada and City of Toronto announced a $2.7 billion partnership that will advance 18 projects, which will together deliver over 5,600 new rental homes.

This includes developments owned by Toronto Community Housing, Waterfront Toronto, Dream and CentreCourt Inc., and Menkes Developments.

Build Canada Homes is providing $310 million towards 9 projects on City-owned land, while CMHC is providing $1.8 billion in financing towards 9 other projects.
