During a routine suspension and steering inspection on a FORD F350, we uncovered the culprit behind these problems: a worn-out original steering gear.

This wear and tear were responsible for the majority of play in the steering, contributing to the vehicle's wandering behavior.

1991 FORD F250 4x4

A customer brought in their pristine Ford truck for a suspension and steering refresh.

The front leaf springs had lost their “spring,” causing the front end to ride low—a common issue with the heavy 7.3 diesel engine.

To resolve this, we upgraded from a 2-leaf to a 3-leaf pack, increasing the ride height.

We also added adjusting cams to ensure proper wheel alignment.

To maintain control, we installed Bilstein HD shocks and finished it off with a set of BFG A/T KO tires.

And we didn’t forget the steering!

A new RedHead Steering Gear replaced the sloppy OEM steering box, ensuring a smoother and more responsive drive.
