Returning to Antarctica after 30 years, electrician Jules Knight installs a new bank of deep cycle Rolls S12-240AGM-RE batteries at Port Lockroy, replacing the previous set. Capable of operating in cold conditions, these AGM batteries provide silent and reliable renewable energy storage from solar panels, reducing their dependence on fuel-powered generators. Once used for safe anchorage and research, the Port Lockroy facility now operates as a remote weather station and houses a museum and post office. The location also accommodates visitors and conservation teams who monitor gentoo penguin populations in the region.

Returning to Antarctica 30 years later, electrician Jules Knight swaps generators for silent solar power at historic Port Lockroy.
