What’s really happening in your milk?

DeLaval’s new Milk Solids Analysis is bringing a whole new level of information to the VMS V300.

Instead of relying on an occasional milk sample to tell you what your herd is doing, the new BioSensor measures fat, protein and lactose during every milking. The information is then brought into DeLaval Plus so you can see what’s happening at both the cow and herd level.

Extremely accurate.
No calibration required.

But the real question is: what can you actually do with that information?

Think about changing forages, adjusting a ration, dealing with a feed transition, or simply wondering why milk production or components have shifted.

Rather than waiting for the next test result, you can watch the trend as it happens.

Is the herd responding to a ration change?
Are milk components starting to move in the wrong direction?
Is an individual cow behaving differently from the rest of the herd?
What effect is a forage or feeding change actually having?

The system also looks at the fat-to-protein ratio, with daily and 7 day trends that can help flag possible metabolic issues such as ketosis or acidosis earlier, giving you and your nutritionist or veterinarian another piece of information when making herd health decisions.

And there’s no extra sampling routine. The sensor uses near infrared technology to measure the milk in line during milking, without manual sampling or consumables such as test reagents.

For us, this is where the technology gets exciting! It’s not just about having more numbers. It’s about having better information when you can actually use it to make feeding decisions, monitor herd performance and catch changes sooner.

Milk Solids Analysis is now available for the DeLaval VMS V300 as an upgrade or as an option on new installations.

Want to see what Milk Solids Analysis could look like on your VMS? Give us a call here at EDS! 📞 🐄

Did you know that flow responsive milking can help make the milking process more efficient while supporting udder health and cow comfort?

With flow responsive milking, the system continuously monitors milk flow and adjusts the vacuum levels in real time accordingly. This allows each cow to be milked based on her individual milk flow, rather than using a one size fits all approach.

Some key benefits include:
✨ Faster milk time
✨ Optimized milking for each individual cow
✨ Helps reduce overmilking
✨ Supports gentle and efficient milking
✨ Can improve milking routines and overall efficiency
✨ Helps promote cow comfort and good udder health

Every cow is different, and flow responsive milking technology helps ensure the milking process responds to the cow, not the other way around!

Smart technology. Better milking. Happier cows. 🐄💙 call us today to see how this solution could fit into your operation!

The guys have had a great time at two golf tournaments we love attending and supporting this month! We always have so much fun putting a team in, sponsoring holes, and getting out to enjoy a day on the course while supporting our local agricultural community.

The Agri Golf Classic, a fundraiser in support of the athletics program at Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

The 4-H Nova Scotia Royal Dairy Golf Scramble, held in support of the province’s 4-H Royal Dairy Team.

We’re proud to support these great organizations and the important work they do for agriculture, youth, and our community. We look forward to these tournaments every year! ⛳️ 🐄

Every drop of milk tells a story.

A story of seed planted in the spring. Crops nurtured through unpredictable weather. A story of healthy cows, quality feed, reliable equipment, and countless hours of hard work. A story of early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and the dedication of farm families who show up every single day.

Milk doesn’t simply appear on store shelves. It is the result of a long chain of care, planning, investment, and sacrifice.

Today, on World Milk Day, we celebrate not only a nutritious food that nourishes millions of people, but also the people behind it.

Here’s to the hard work behind every drop. 🐄🥛🌱
