The Most Expensive Warehouse Space Is the Space You Already Own
Everyone talks about needing a bigger building. But after walking through hundreds of facilities across Atlantic Canada, I've noticed something:
Most companies don't have a space problem.
They have a visibility problem.
❌ Empty air above racks
❌ Wide aisles storing nothing
❌ Inventory spread across multiple locations
❌ Floor space occupied by products that should be vertical
Before spending millions on an addition, ask:
Are we using our full cube?
Is our storage system designed for today's inventory?
How much space is being lost because of poor layout?
Could we increase capacity by 20-40% without expanding?
The surprising answer is often yes.
The most successful warehouse projects aren't always the biggest.
They're the ones that help a company delay a building expansion for another 3-5 years. That's real ROI!
How much unused space do you think exists in the average warehouse?
