Herman spent some time this week, checking out the beautiful old growth forests on Vancouver Island, admiring the towering Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir and Hemlock.

Some trees on the island were already 300 years old when Christopher Columbus hit the shores of North America.

It’s pretty impressive to stand next to a tree that towers 75 meters in height!

Western Red Cedar has a natural wood preservative making it resistant to decay, a dead tree can remain solid for up to 100 years.

If you’re looking for a Canadian destination, Vancouver Island is something to see!

The warmth, the texture, the way the light catches the grain - it’s in the details, and a ceiling like this sets this space apart 😍

This ceiling was crafted with Douglas Fir, and the team at Malcolm vanderZalm did an amazing job. Douglas Fir gives you a straighter grain, honey tones and is definitely a show stopper for projects like this.

This gazebo received a beautiful refresh, David restored the roof of his gazebo with our #2 Red Label Perfection Shingles and Tapersawn Cap.

The cupola was handcrafted with Western Red Cedar as well.

ha, this is a good trend but I will admit photographers and home renovations have some of the best reels when it comes to this trend 😂
