Quartek Group Inc. developed initially as a Niagara branch office of F.J. Reinders and Associates Canada Limited between 1979 and 1992. In 1992 MPS Reinders Niagara was formed as an independently owned firm of multi-disciplinary design professionals. In 1998 Robert MacKenzie, OAA, and Stan Butcherd (previously MacKenzie Butcherd Architects) joined the firm. Through the combined leadership of firm
principals, Patrick MacNeill, Douglas Peters and Robert MacKenzie, the company was re-named “Quartek” in January 2000 to better reflect the philosophy of a single-source design and project delivery solution for our many new and returning clientele. After the closing of Peninsula Engineering Inc. in 2004, a number of their former core mechanical, electrical and structural engineering staff joined our team, enhancing Quartek’s capabilities in these disciplines. Ian Elmes, B. Arch., OAA, and Richard Baker, B.Arch., OAA formerly principals of Baker and Elmes Architects joined Quartek Group Inc. in 2006. In 2010, Frederic Couture and Paul Uppal became Directors of the company. Robert Mackenzie assumed the role of firm president. Patrick MacNeill is Director of Corporate Development. Norman Ocampo is the new Director of Architecture and Douglas Peters is the Director of Engineering.
