Battery Charging & More
If you are experiencing dead batteries and your battery is not old here are the steps:
1. Turn your ignition on. Take picture of the volt guage. Now start the engine and rev to 3/4 throttle. You should see that guage go from where it was to at least .75 volt higher. If it does your system is charging. If it doesn't....
2. Check for a blown fuse (the purple wire that comes to the engine) usually a 30 AMP. Replace if blown but if it has check for reason why. Usually from a previous short somewhere.
3. Next disconnect the 3 wire harness (2 whites 1 purple or black) and with a multimeter set to AC Volts check to see if you have 28+ ACV between the 2 white wires at 3/4 to full throttle. If you do and all the connections have been good...replace regulator.
4. If you do not have good AC Volts coming from the stator then it is bad and replace the stator. Engine will need to be removed to do that.

We participated in a Grand Opening of a dealer recently by setting up an Obstacle Course. This course had some curves, a fence to get under, retrieve some hankies to mimic needing a free hand to hold away a tree limb etc and a construction cone with a tennis ball on top of it to mimic not bumping into things that would get scratched if you did. The whole path is lined with blocks that if hit, they fall over. Each one of these things are counted as penalties.

We had 2 machines: 1 - 48” cut Walker Mower & 1 - 48” cut popular branded Mid Mount mower.

Here are the cumulated results of many contestants. Some of the contestants had owned both in their lifetime. Some had only had the Mid Mount Brand and some had only had a Walker. Every contestant did better on a Walker than the Mid Mount regardless whether they had owned/driven a Walker before.

2 Contestants removed from data due to extreme penalty misfortune/losing complete control of 1 or both machines.

Walker Avg Time: 53.6 s
Mid Mount Time: 81.7 s

Walker Penalties: 2.6
Mid Mount Penalties: 5.3

Walker Adjusted Time: 58.9 s
Mid Mount Adj Time: 92.3 s

Best Walker Adj Time: 30.3 s
Best Mid Mount Adj Time: 64.6 s

Read this…. If you are shopping for a mower!
