Battery Charging & More
If you are experiencing dead batteries and your battery is not old here are the steps:
1. Turn your ignition on. Take picture of the volt guage. Now start the engine and rev to 3/4 throttle. You should see that guage go from where it was to at least .75 volt higher. If it does your system is charging. If it doesn't....
2. Check for a blown fuse (the purple wire that comes to the engine) usually a 30 AMP. Replace if blown but if it has check for reason why. Usually from a previous short somewhere.
3. Next disconnect the 3 wire harness (2 whites 1 purple or black) and with a multimeter set to AC Volts check to see if you have 28+ ACV between the 2 white wires at 3/4 to full throttle. If you do and all the connections have been good...replace regulator.
4. If you do not have good AC Volts coming from the stator then it is bad and replace the stator. Engine will need to be removed to do that.
