Richmond Fair Since 1844 the Fair has been an opportunity for locals to enjoy the best of their neighbour's kitchens, crops, livestock & machinery.

With the development of urban communities, the Fair is an annual reminder of where your food, (and your roots), come from. The Richmond Fair is unique in that it is by far the largest spectator event held annually within the surrounding community. It promotes agricultural awareness within the City of Ottawa, a city with the largest agricultural land base and agricultural economy in Canada. The 2017 fair dates are September 14-17. Check our pages regularly to view exciting events being scheduled throughout the year.

🐴 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO OUR EQUINE PARTICIPANTS

The Richmond Agricultural Society has been made aware of a confirmed case of Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) involving a horse that attended an equine event at the 2026 Perth Fair between September 3-6.

We are sharing this with our equine participants so that everyone has the information and can take any precautions they feel are appropriate.

A few important clarifications:

β€’ The positive horse was only present at Perth Fair.
β€’ The additional dates below are being shared because other horses that attended Perth Fair also attended events on these dates. Therefore, the potential risk of exposure on these dates may be substantially lower.

The dates being referenced are:

September 10 & 11
September 18–20
September 25–26

If you attended an equine event during these dates and have concerns about possible exposure or the health of your horse, we encourage you to contact your veterinarian for advice. Your veterinarian can assess your individual circumstances and advise whether any testing or other precautions are appropriate.

The health and well-being of our horses and the broader equine community remain our priority.
