Wenco International Mining Systems

Wenco International Mining Systems We help you extract unrealized value, provide a safe operation, and evolve with the industry.

Wenco is recognized as a leading provider of an open interoperable suite of solutions: fleet management, machine guidance, asset health, and fatigue management. With over 20 years in the industry, Wenco provides sophisticated fleet management systems for open pit mines worldwide to accurately record equipment activity, location, time and production information. The system provides automatic dispa

tching to maximize production while delivering specified ore qualities to blend points in addition to high precision GPS applications for the positioning and guidance of excavators, dozers, and drills. Wenco's suite of fleet management software applications are developed in Canada and distributed to mine sites worldwide. Our Technical Services and Hardware teams provide on-site training and installations to mine sites wherever they are needed.

At CIM Montréal in 2019, Wenco first publicly announced work on what would become ISO 23725 — the open autonomy standard now reshaping how mining operators choose their technology partners.

That moment is a good reminder of why industry convening still matters.

For 100 years, CIM has brought operators, suppliers, and innovators into the same room to debate, disagree, and move the industry forward. For a Canadian company that's been serving mining for over 40 years, that platform isn't a nice-to-have — it's where the conversations that shape the next decade actually happen.

Glen Trainor, longtime Wenco leader, puts it simply: "CIM Connect gives us the platform where we can share ideas with others in the industry... connecting us with the operators and the challenges that matter the most."

Congratulations to Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum on 100 years. Here's to the next century of moving mining forward, together.

A shift change used to mean a slow drift in dispatch averages until someone noticed and corrected them manually.

In our Wencomine FMS, that's changed.
The dispatch engine now adapts to shifting conditions within 4 to 5 observations. When a new operator's loading times run consistently higher than the previous shift's, the average converges to the new reality. No resetting limits. No retuning damping factors. No second-guessing the data.

How it works: instead of fixed high/low percentage limits that require manual configuration, outlier thresholds now adjust automatically based on the spread of recent data.

Most of what makes mining software actually useful happens in the steady refinement of how a system reads the pit and acts on it without making the dispatcher's day more complicated. This is dispatch that fits the pit.

ISO 23725 reached publication in August 2024 as the international standard for autonomous haulage interoperability. Two years on, most teams know what it does. Fewer have thought carefully about what it deliberately doesn't do.

It defines the FMS–AHS interface. It does not define who, on either side of that interface, owns which operational responsibility.

That ambiguity isn't an oversight. It's the feature that makes open autonomy work across the very different starting points mines actually have.

Wenco's new piece looks at what the standard leaves open — and the seven questions worth asking before deployment.

We're heading to West Africa. 🌍

Wenco International Mining Systems is exhibiting at — the West African Mining & Power Expo — June 3–5 in Accra, Ghana. It's a chance to sit down with the operators, OEMs, and decision-makers shaping mining across the region, and to talk through what's actually working on site.

📍 Stand A250-F07, Hall 2 | June 3–5, 2026
We're co-exhibiting alongside our regional partner Technology Solutions. Together, we bring fleet management, machine guidance, asset health, fatigue management, and open autonomy to the conversations happening on the floor.
Whether you're already running Wenco at site or looking at it for the first time, come say hello 👋

Not every time the bucket comes down is a load.
Sometimes the operator is cleaning the floor. Sometimes the shovel is repositioning. Sometimes the cycle is interrupted — by traffic, a delay, or something off the bench.
When every bucket motion gets counted as “production,” the data feeding dispatch, reconciliation, and grade control inherits the noise.

Wenco's BenchManager reads the bench behaviorally. Using signals like velocity, swing, and dig-cycle patterns, it distinguishes production cycles from auxiliary movement — without relying on operator prompts between cycles.
🔸Cleaner production data that matches the work
🔸Less reconciliation friction
🔸More confidence in what flows downstream

At CIM - Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Connect 2026, we showed up alongside others — and the week was stronger for it.
Four days in Vancouver, co-exhibiting with our Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas Inc. / LANDCROS group partners and .
Standing alongside Cascadia Scientific at Booth 330 to talk about what real integration delivers — measured, not modelled.
Joining industry voices on the panel building Canada's first national Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention database, including Teck Resources and the CIM Health and Safety Society team.
The future of mining isn't being built by single vendors. It's being built by the relationships across the value chain — and we're grateful for the partners and peers who make that work real.
One hundred years of CIM Expo. A century of an industry built by collaboration. We're proud of who we showed up with this year.

Thank you to everyone who made this our mining moment.

Every mining conference has a session on predictive maintenance. Every vendor deck promises AI-driven failure prediction.
But two things rarely get discussed:
1️⃣ Where the training data actually comes from?
2️⃣ Is what's being sold actually prediction?
The answer in both cases has less to do with the tools themselves than most vendor decks let on — and the mines best positioned for the next generation of maintenance technology are the ones quietly doing something about it right now, before the tools arrive.
The technology is maturing fast. The question is whether your data will be ready when it arrives.

We unpack the maintenance maturity ladder and what it takes to climb it: https://bit.ly/3OZ4SId

Built to integrate and deliver results.

Two vendor-neutral, OEM-agnostic platforms connected through open APIs — that's our commitment to interoperability in practice.

Wencomine FMS integration with Cascadia Scientific Inc. Refuel Coach requires no new dashboards, no system overhauls. Built not only to integrate, but to deliver results:
• Refuel threshold: 32.5% → 15%
• +22 productive hours per truck per year
• ~USD $750K recovered across a 30-truck fleet

📢 Catch Cascadia CEO Kevin Dagenais today at , 2 PM, Room 110, presenting on optimized refuelling strategies for haul trucks:
"Refuel Less, Haul More: Leveraging Machine Learning and Multi-source Data Fusion for Intelligent Refueling Management in Mining Operations"

Then, stop by 📍Cascadia at Booth 330 or 📍Wenco at Booth 1407 to walk through the integration in person at CIM - Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum

Canada has 13 separate health and safety legislations and no national requirement to report mining fatalities centrally.

That was one of the takeaways from yesterday's session at CIM - Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum 2026, where our Principal Scientist Emily Tetzlaff, PhD, shared her work on Canada's first national SIF prevention database.

Two things worth carrying forward from yesterday:
🔶Lessons learned at one operation rarely reach another. The case for a national database isn't convenience — fragmentation has measurable cost in lives.
🔶 98% of safety professionals surveyed (n=150, every province and territory represented) said a national SIF database is needed. This isn't vendor-driven. It's the people doing safety work every day asking for it.

The conversation continues this afternoon.
📍 Panel: Reporting for a Safer Tomorrow — Building a SIF Prevention System That Improves Mine Safety Outcomes | 3:30–4:45 PM PT | Room 111
Panelists:
- Nelson Bodnarchuk, Fuerte Metals
- Lori-Anne Fleming, Epiroc
- Michael Hartley, InterKnowlogy
- Ameni Ben Ammar, CIM | Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum
- Joshua Tepper, Teck Resources Limited
- Emily Tetzlaff, PhD,

This is the conversation we believe makes real impact — and one that requires perspectives from across the industry, not just one voice. Looking forward to the discussion.
