Discover who is the entrepreneur adventurer and innovator behind Claes Equipment, the first manufacturer of all-electric industrial snow removal machinery.
- Where did you get your entrepreneur mindset in hard tech?
*From a young age, my insatiable curiosity and self-taught nature drove me to explore the world of manufacturing. By disassembling various objects, I developed skills that led to increasingly ambitious projects. Each success and failure has strengthened my resilience in the face of challenges. Surrounded by inspiring entrepreneurs in my family and circle of friends, it was clear to me that I would one day become a business leader. After years of reflection and analysis, I founded a manufacturing company specializing in niche engineering products, custom-made for the global market, with a strong emphasis on cooperation.
- What does get you on the path of heavy-equipment manufacturing and electrification?
*With over 20 years of experience in mechanical engineering, I was a student from Université Laval in Quebec and am a graduate technician in mechanical engineering from Cégep de Limoilou. My professional journey has allowed me to hold key positions, including serving as a foreman for a multidisciplinary team of over 30 people. I also worked as an expert consultant for a manufacturer of electric heavy vehicles for waste collection for six years, establishing myself as a leader in heavy manufacturing and electrification.
- What is making you unique and trustfull partner?
* My specialization has developed through my role as a designer of snow removal equipment. As a mechanical project manager for a renowned manufacturing company, I played a crucial role in technological innovation, including the acquisition of patents. My expertise in managing and developing snow removal products has enabled my employer to expand its offerings and enter new markets. With a deep understanding of the dynamic principles and challenges of the industry, I am recognized as an essential expert. My network of contacts with subcontractors, operators, and specialized suppliers across North America further strengthens my position in the market.
- What is motivate you and what is your ambition?
* Passionate about challenges, I have completed two 65 km off-trail races, proving my determination and tenacity. As a father of two young children, I aim to instill an entrepreneurial spirit in them, ensuring the longevity of Claes Équipement, with the ambition to make our company a flagship in Quebec’s energy transition.
