Our calendar has just opened for booking!
We are so thrilled to once again offer a unique, hands-on learning experience for children and families in Prince George, provided by a local farmer with years of experience in agriculture. This is an incredible opportunity to engage with the life cycle of chicks, from egg to hatching, all while fostering important lessons in science, responsibility, and care.
What’s Included?
Each Hatch a Batch includes:
• A top of the line, user friendly, incubator and automatic egg turner for everything you need to hatch eggs safely and successfully.
• A full kit of supplies with everything you need, including fertilized eggs, feeders, waterers, bedding materials and feed.
• A freestanding observation chick brooder and heat lamp set up for observing and enjoying the freshly hatched chicks.
• An educational binder that includes step-by-step instructions, elementary age books, engaging worksheets, educational activities, and reproducible materials to enhance learning.
• Support from a local farmer who will be available throughout the process to answer any questions, provide guidance, and ensure a successful hatch.
How It Works:
1. Reserve your incubator package and prepare for an unforgettable learning experience.
2. The package is picked up from our farm in the Hart, or delivered to your school, daycare, or home with all the necessary materials to start incubating eggs.
3. You’ll be guided by the instructional binder, but your local farmer mentor will also be available to provide support and answer questions.
4. Watch and take in an unforgettable life experience as the eggs incubate, hatch, and grow!
5. After the chicks have hatched, you have the option to return them to the farm or keep them (under proper care and management guidelines).
This is a perfect opportunity to teach children about life cycles, responsibility, and the science behind incubation. It’s also a fantastic way to bring the community closer together by supporting local farmers and fostering educational experiences in our area.
