We are excited to be partnering with Long Point Region Conservation Area at Backus Conservation Area for a special event on August 1, 2026. While the Backus folks demonstrate the steps in taking wheat from the field to bread in the oven, our guild members will demonstrate what is required to take flax from the field and turn it into linen yarn to create cloth for many purposes. We look forward to seeing you there.

Our guild is participating in this show and sale on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Mark your calendars and plan to attend.

On a very cool morning, Murray bundled up and planted flax for our guild. It is next to a small plot of wheat. After sowing, he covered it with some black earth and raked it with the back of a fan rake. Now we wait!
Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, August 1 when you can come to Backus Conservation Area to enjoy Field to Fabric and Field to Flour events. You will be able to see the wheat being processed and made into bread. Our flax will not be ready to harvest until mid August, but you can see guild members processing flax into linen yarn and using the yarn to make many different items.
