Over the past two weeks, we were pleased to welcome medical students from Queen’s University and the University of Ottawa to our community as part of Medical Learners Community Week.

As part of the experience, a guided ATV ride was organized to highlight the exceptional quality of life our region has to offer. Students travelled along the scenic Algonquin Trail, an opportunity made possible through the support of local volunteers, staff, physicians, and community partners.

Thank you to the Laurentian Valley 50+ Fit and Feisty group, the Renfrew County ATV Club, Snow Country Snowmobile Region – OFSC District 6, and Keymac Motorsports for generously sharing their time, equipment, and expertise. Your contributions helped create a memorable and meaningful experience for visiting learners.

The journey began at Hugli’s Blueberry Ranch and included a stop at the Petawawa River Bridge, where students were welcomed with a non-alcoholic beverage provided by Dog House Brewing Company. On the return to Pembroke, the group enjoyed a sweet stop at River Run Treats along Pembroke’s waterfront.

We also extend sincere thanks to the physicians, staff, volunteers, and partners at Pembroke Regional Hospital and the Petawawa Centennial Family Health Centre for their ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare across our communities.

Physician recruitment is a true collective effort, and initiatives like this highlight the power of partnership in showcasing the strength, hospitality, and lifestyle our region has to offer.
