I'M RUNNING FOR CRD AREA L DIRECTOR
Today, I am announcing that I am running to serve as your CRD Area L Director.
Lone Butte and the South Cariboo have been my home for ten years. I live here, work here and enjoy life here. As a local property owner, community volunteer and owner of South Cariboo Excavating, the decisions made here affect my home, my business and my community too. I also serve on local boards, giving me practical experience in governance and making responsible decisions as part of a team. I have more than 30 years of experience in construction, utilities, project supervision and workplace safety, starting at the end of a shovel and working my way into managing people, projects and a business.
I am running because I want greater transparency, clearer communication and stronger follow-through from our regional government. My conversations with residents throughout Area L have reinforced those reasons: people want to know what decisions are being made, how those decisions affect them and how they can speak up before decisions are final.
For anyone unsure, CRD Area L is the rural Lone Butte/Interlakes local government area covering Deka, Sheridan, Roe, Bridge, Horse and Watch lakes, Lone Butte, the northern part of Green Lake and surrounding rural areas. The director is not a provincial party representative and is separate from the mayor and council of 100 Mile House.
Put simply, the director's job is to work for you: listen, advocate, be accountable for the positions I take and help residents understand who is responsible for what. Potholes on provincial roads, hospital service interruptions and municipal services inside 100 Mile House fall under the Province, Interior Health or the District rather than the CRD. Even then, I will explain who is accountable, help you reach the right office and advocate when the issue affects Area L.
Being accessible also means showing up. I will make a point of attending community events, dinners and local gatherings throughout Area L so residents can speak with me face to face, not only at formal meetings.
If elected, I will hold regular rotating town halls, report back clearly and maintain a public Area L Action List showing the status, next step and next update for major unresolved files. That includes long-standing Deka Lake planning issues under the 2004 Interlakes Area Official Community Plan, and the completed 2025 Area L Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan prepared by Forsite Consultants. Residents deserve to know which recommendations are moving forward, what still needs action, what barriers remain and what comes next.
One director cannot guarantee Board outcomes, but I can guarantee the standard I will bring. My personal and business reputation has been built on keeping my word, treating people fairly and standing behind my work. I will bring that same accountability and follow-through to serving Area L.
