The Government of Canada, Ontario Government and the City of Toronto have officially launched Waterfront Toronto’s Request for Qualifications for the first residential buildings on Ookwemin Minising.

The YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) mapping studies launched this spring will produce about 260 kilometres of new or updated flood mapping for 10 communities, on top of the nearly 600 kilometres of flood mapping that was already underway across the province.

Flood mapping is commonly used to guide local development decisions and prioritization of flood mitigation strategies, including projects that are eligible for funding through the government’s Drought and Flood Protection Program. – via ConstructConnect

Oakridge Park Vancouver, Canada’s largest redevelopment by QuadReal Property Group and Westbank Corp, officially opened on May 28th.

Spanning 650,000 square feet and designed by Henriquez Partners Architects, the project boasts an array of civic amenities including a 9-acre public park, community centre, library and daycare. EllisDon Corporation began construction in late 2019. - via REMI Network

Originally opened in 2022, the Wheaton Walk Through Time at University of British Columbia is an outdoor interpretive and wayfinding project that translates Earth’s 4.5 billion years of geological and biological history into a clear and accessible public experience.

Designed by PWL Partnership Landscape Architects Inc., it demonstrates how landscaping can function as a communication medium, translating scientific research into engaging, legible and publicly accessible learning experiences.

The project received an Award of Excellence from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, recognizing the exhibit’s success in turning scientific research and museum interpretation into an accessible public learning experience. – via REMI Network

Vancouver’s The Hive office building, the tallest mass timber seismic-resistant building in North America, has reached structural completion.

The project was designed by Dialog, with BentallGreenOak as project manager and general contracting by Ventana Construction Vancouver.

The 10-storey building, with its distinctive honeycomb-shaped exoskeleton, is destined to become an instant landmark with sustainability features like triple-glazed windows, which help block noise from the roadway, and a system that has achieved salmon safe certification. – via ConstructConnect
