A good read, and a long time coming.

Across Canada, Indigenous fire knowledge is helping shape modern conversations about wildfire prevention, forest health, and resilience. Research continues to show that proactive land management can reduce wildfire intensity while supporting healthier ecosystems.

As wildfire seasons become more challenging, learning from generations of observation, stewardship, and experience may be one of the most valuable tools we have.

More aircraft are important but aircraft alone are not a strategy.

As wildfire seasons become longer and more intense, conversations are shifting toward faster initial attack, better coordination, improved deployment, and more effective suppression tools.

The question isn't just how many aircraft we have. It's about how quickly we can get the right resources to the right place, and how effectively those resources can support firefighters on the ground.

The fires are changing and our strategies need to change with them.

The announcement follows the fall 2025 budget announcement of a $316.7-million investment in Canada’s aerial wildfire-fighting capacity.

From structural and wildland fires to hydrocarbon and polar solvent fuel fires, Eco-Gel™ works by improving cooling, suppression, vapour mitigation, and reignition prevention.

Different fuels require different suppression approaches — which is why training and operational familiarity matter.

This Canadian Environment Week, let's remember that protecting communities and protecting the environment should not be competing priorities.

As wildfire seasons intensify and conversations around PFAS and long-term contamination continue to grow, the products and strategies used in fire suppression matter.

At FireRein, we believe safer, more sustainable suppression solutions are part of the future of firefighting.

Because what we put on the fire doesn’t just disappear when the fire is out.

Another piece from Paul Combs that hits home for a lot of people in the fire service right now.

The conversations around firefighter health, PFAS exposure, environmental contamination, and safer suppression tools are not always easy conversations to have. Protecting firefighters means being willing to ask hard questions, challenge old assumptions, and keep pushing for better.

Interesting read on the growing conversation around Canada’s aerial firefighting future.

With wildfire seasons becoming longer and more intense, discussions are growing around federally coordinated wildfire response, expanding aerial firefighting capacity, modernizing fleets and dispatch systems and faster, more proactive initial attack strategies

As new aerial suppression strategies and technologies emerge, there is also growing importance in looking closely at what is being deployed onto forests, watersheds, and communities.

FireRein Eco-Gel™ is PFAS-free and certified 100% bio-based, designed to support effective suppression while reducing long-term environmental concerns associated with some traditional products.

For organizations exploring aerial wildfire suppression approaches, we’re always open to conversations, testing, and collaboration.

The case for a federally-owned fleet of firefighting aircraft isn’t new—but its proponents are getting louder. Are stop-gap measures a missed opportunity for both government and industry?
