More aircraft are important but aircraft alone are not a strategy.

As wildfire seasons become longer and more intense, conversations are shifting toward faster initial attack, better coordination, improved deployment, and more effective suppression tools.

The question isn't just how many aircraft we have. It's about how quickly we can get the right resources to the right place, and how effectively those resources can support firefighters on the ground.

The fires are changing and our strategies need to change with them.

The announcement follows the fall 2025 budget announcement of a $316.7-million investment in Canada’s aerial wildfire-fighting capacity.

Good news! Texas has adopted a first-of-its-kind recurring firefighter safety training requirement, mandating regulated firefighters complete the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s Courage to Be Safe® program every five years.

The Texas Commission on Fire Protection has adopted a new statewide continuing education standard requiring regulated fire protection personnel to complete the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s Courage to Be Safe® program every five years.
