Quick question for SPD techs: what's the one thing you'd fix at your inspection station?
Research on instrument errors keeps pointing to visualization. In one hospital system, 83% of staff-reported errors traced to inspection, identification or assembly (Nichol & Saari, 2023). Human factors work on SPD assembly also flags lighting, workspace, tools and access to instrument info as factors shaping the work (Alfred et al., BMJ Quality & Safety, 2021).
The table in the photo has an illuminated work surface. That's one approach to the lighting side. The studies didn't evaluate this table, so we're not claiming it reduces errors. We're more interested in what you'd change.
