A Stadium Like a Sculpture ⚽️
The Ion Oblemenco Stadium in Craiova opened in 2017 and today offers more than 30,000 covered seats.
Its organic, enclosed form is a defining architectural feature. Inspired by the oval works of sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, the stadium appears less like a conventional sports building and more like a sculptural landmark for the city.
The connection between the roof and the façade is particularly striking:
👉 The envelope wraps around the stands like a continuous shell, giving the stadium its futuristic appearance.

Architecturally, the stadium stands out for its flowing, almost floating facade. The curved stadium roof follows the oval shape of the stands, sweeping over the seating areas like a light ribbon.
